NCI approves 2 colleges for J&K

SRINAGAR, Nov 4: Nursing Council of India (NCI) has approved setting up of two nursing colleges under the patronage of Jammu and Kahmir Muslim Wakf Board at Charar-i-Sharief and Awantipora, Board vice-chairman Peer Mohammad Hussain said.
He said that it was the mission of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to establish nursing colleges in every district of the State to augment the healthcare infrastructure.
The vice-chairman added that in the first phase, besides establishing Alamdar College for Nursing and Medical Technology and Syed Mantaqi Memorial College for Nursing and Medical Technology at Charar-i-Sharief and Awantipora, new Nursing Colleges will be established in Rajouri and Kishtwar districts in collaboration with Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University.
He said initially BSc and Nursing courses will be taught in these colleges while as in coming years various Para Medical courses will be introduced under Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora.
On the occasion, the vice-chairman thanked Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for taking personal interest in pursuing the approval of start of academic calendar in these colleges with the Central Government.
