KARGIL, July 28: Member of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM), Rinchen Lhamo today attended the consecration ceremony of the mummified holy body of late Geshe Lharanpa Lobsang Chultrim as the chief guest.
The consecration ceremony was conducted by monks from various monasteries, led by Kundhaling Tatsak Rinpoche.
Addressing a vast gathering of monks and the general public, Rinchen Lhamo remarked that the passing of such an esteemed Gheshe is not solely a loss for the people of Zanskar but also a profound loss for Ladakh, the entire Himalayan region, and the global Buddhist community. She emphasized that this monumental event in Ladakh’s history will be eternally cherished and remembered by generations to come.
The Member of NCM underscored the importance of the Government of India’s schemes aimed at uplifting the minorities socially, economically, and educationally. She further informed that all centrally sponsored schemes of Government of India are now accessible online, making it easier for everyone to stay updated and follow these initiatives in this digital era.
The consecration ceremony witnessed the presence of several distinguished guests, including Executive Councilor for Tourism, RD, and Zanskar Affairs, LAHDC, Kargil, Phunchok Tashi, Konchok Tsephel, member of minority of Buddhist Community and is a nominated Councilor for LAHDC Leh. Alongside them, Councilors and hundreds of monks and devotees also graced the occasion.
Later, Rinchen Lhamo presided over a meeting of the Sub Divisional Officers, where she reviewed the progress of various CSSs and addressed various grievances put by public. She urged the departments to effectively implement the centrally sponsored schemes initiated by the Government of India for the minorities, ensuring that the benefits reach the innocent people of the minority communities, right at their doorsteps.
She urged departments to organize awareness camps to inform and educate the people about the various Government schemes available, fostering greater awareness and accessibility to these beneficial initiatives.
