JAMMU, Feb 26: Former Minister and State NCP president, Thakur Randhir Singh, today criticized Union Railway Minister, Suresh Prabhu, for ignoring Jammu and Kashmir in his railway budget.
Singh said after independence train came to Jammu from Pathankot in 1972 and Jammu to Katra via Udhampur in 2014 after more than 42 years but it has not still crossed Reasi. He said Ladakh, Uri, Tanghdar and Poonch should have been on the priority of the Railway Minister, as it can be great importance in moving army and paramilitary forces to these strategic places, but he ignored them totally.
The former Minister also criticized Prabhu for ignoring the most important parts of J&K– Kargil and Leh right up to Tibet border, where the Chinese have brought rail right up to our border. He also demanded railway line from Jammu to Poonch via Rajouri terming it the most strategic place.
Singh said in all railway budgets the ministers have been simply ordering survey for the last 30 years and the present Railway Minister also repeated the old tune that survey will be conducted up to Poonch.
