NCP demands permanent, safe shelters for border dwellers

JAMMU, May 19: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) today condemned Pakistan for unprovoked firing along International Border in RS Pura sector and demanded the Government to provide permanent shelter at safe places to the border people right from Kathua to Poonch.
In a statement issued here, Thakur Randhir Singh, State president, NCP said, “Relations between India and Pakistan have been deteriorating and recent border skirmishes and latest snub by the terror groups to the Center’s piece initiative in Kashmir may further strain bilateral relations”.
Singh said that PDP-BJP Coalition Government has failed to provide permanent shelter to border people while the State and Central Ministers have been simply issuing statements and nothing has been done on the ground.
The NCP chief demanded the Government to pay Rs 25 lakh compensation to those died in ceasefire, Rs 5 lakh to the injured, besides special treatment to them on Government expenses. He also demanded one Government job for each family, which lost their members in ceasefire.
Singh said the Coalition Government has already ignored Ladakh and Jammu in all fields of development, employment and there was no full fledge opposition conclave called by the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti which decided ceasefire ignoring NCP, BSP and other parties from Jammu region.
He expressed shocked over the speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Leh where his Coalition Government did not to provide relief to flood affected people and ignoring the extension of highest airport to a modern airport where bigger planes could not get land.
