JAMMU, Feb 1: A delegation of State Central Labour Union of J&K National Conference called on the National Conference president and former J&K Chief Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah here today and discussed the issue related to sick industrial units in the region.
Led by Nar Singh, president of the Labour Union, the members met the National Conference chief at his residence in Jammu. They discussed the issues pertaining to the condition of sick industrial units/ PSUs, at Bari Brahmana, Samba and Kathua and requested for government support and revival of all such units in the region.
They pointed out that a large number of employees/ workers of these units are facing starvation. With the revival of these units with government support, these hapless souls will be able to get meals. This is great humanitarian issue which the previous administrations have ignored.
Deep Mehra, secretary of the Union, appealed to the party president Dr Farooq Abdullah and the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to regularize the daily wage employees of PDD, PWD , PHE and all other departments.
The Union members also discussed the matter related to restoration of Old Pension Scheme for the employees in J&K and sought early action in this regard as promised during elections.
Senior members of the Union- Karan Singh, Baldev Raj, Parshotam Sharma, Shiv Kumar and others also joined the delegation.
