JAMMU, Oct 27: J&K National Conference Legal Cell, Jammu province today discussed the issues of Legal fraternity from J&K High Court and District Courts with the Dy Chief Minister, Surinder Kumar Choudhary here.
The Cell members during meeting with the DyCM stressed for addressing the issues of the practicing lawyers, advocates of Jammu and Kashmir High Court and other district courts. Led by senior advocate and provincial president of the Cell, D S Chouhan the members stressed the need to enhance the infrastructure in the High Court Jammu and other lower courts. They said that outdated facilities, limited seating capacity and insufficient technology support in the court rooms are affecting both advocates and the litigants. There is urgent need to bring improvement for better working environment in the courts, they added.
Referring to the advocate welfare measures, Chouhan said there should be comprehensive healthcare insurance scheme for the lawyers, financial support for the young lawyers beginning their career and pension benefit for the senior advocates, who have given entire life to this profession.
The Legal Cell members also demanded expansion of advocates chambers in the High Court and other district courts for the young lawyers, strengthening of Legal Aid Services, increase security in the court premises and streamlining of court procedures.
DyCM listened the delegation carefully and assured to take up their issues with the concerned quarters. The other lawyers accompanied Mehrukh Syedan, Meharban Singh, Nissar Gattoo, and Zaffer Iqbal Choudhary.
