NC’s poll boycott bold step for State’s identity: Jan

POONCH, Sept 26: Terming the decision of National Conference to boycott Urban Local Bodies (ULB) and Panchayat elections as a bold step, NC leader Ajaz Jan said that step has been taken by the party to save State’s identity and also asked BJP headed Government of India to come clear on its stand over Article 35A.
Addressing a meeting of party cadre and local people at Saujian in Mandi today, Provincial NC Youth wing president said that Article 35-A is identity of Jammu and Kashmir and some forces are hell bent to damage it but NC cadre will be first and main hurdle in their move. He termed the poll boycott decision as a bold one.
“ It clearly shows NC is not a power hungry party “ Jan said.
Questioning silence of BJP at the Centre, Jan asked BJP leadership to come clear on its stand over Article 35-A and not to play dual game. He also said that people living on the LoC in Rajouri and Poonch were termed as ‘strategic assets’  by Union Home Minister but Government has ignored them and even their only source of communication along LoC villages, i.e. VLL phones has been closed.
Earlier, locals of the area highlighted a number of problems prevailing in the area.
Those who accompanied during the tour of Ex-MLA included Saleem Khari, Haji Sheer Baaz, Naiz Ahmed Khari, Peer Naseer Din, Abdul Jabar Tantary, Mukhtar Rathore and Saif Din.
