NEW DELHI, Oct 19: Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Ghulam Ali Khatana on Wednesday criticized the resolution passed by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and his Council of Ministers, seeking the restoration of Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, terming it a publicity stunt.
In a sharp rebuttal, Khatana emphasized that both Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Home Minister, Amit Shah had already assured the restoration of Statehood to J&K on the floor of the Parliament. “The Prime Minister and Home Minister have clearly promised that Statehood will be restored at an appropriate time. Your resolution is nothing but an attempt to grab headlines,” Khatana stated.
He further urged Abdullah to focus on Governance and fulfilling the promises made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “You are the Chief Minister, and the people have expectations from you. Instead of playing politics over Statehood, engage yourself in delivering what you have promised. In this new India, people demand governance and tangible results,” Khatana added.
