JAMMU, Mar 12: Nav Durga Kala Manch (NDKM) staged a very sensitive play “Main Damini Bol Rhi Hun” at Abhinav Theater, Jammu. The play financed by Projects Grant, Ministry of Culture was conceived and written by Neha and directed by Aaditya Bhanu.
Neha Lahotra re-lived ‘Damini’–the Delhi gang rape victim, to the resounding echoes of shrieking cries of audience, as she orchestrated the harrowing experience of ‘the dead girl’ who presumably would have suffered through the hands of six demons who devoured hungrily upon her in the moving bus before rendering her as the lump of shredded meat and bones.
“Main Damini Bol Rahi Hun” was a salutation to the departed soul who died mentally on Delhi roads naked begging for help from the brothers and sisters of her nation, while no body turned up.
The storyline was picked from ‘Damini’ announcing herself, clad in bridal costumes and sharing her experience while being coming out of a half burnt pyre to speak to her brothers of the nation about her ordeal.
While Neha changes into “Damini’ pounced upon by the six demons, she produced a horrifying anecdote of the entire episode as audience looked upon terrified and mum-struck.
Neha’s performance was loaded with queries to the media, journalists, ministers, law makers as well as administrative paraphernalia of the system.
The other artists who performed in the play includes George Sabarwal, Anoop Goswami, Vikran Mehta, Aryan Tamder, Karishma Bajgal, Sandeep Sharma, Ashish Bhat and Naina Bhagey.
Sat Sharma, State President BJP, the chief guest on the occasion while showering praises on team for taking up a contemporary and challenging task said that nation needs to wake up from the slumber.
Women Cell incharge, Arti Thakur said the play Damini has turned out to be a strong message for the whole nation from Jammu platform and such like endeavors from the city of temples would go long way through theatrical efforts to revolutionize the Indian contemporary settings.
