JAMMU, Apr 4: National Democratic Party Indian (NDPI) has accused BJP of avoiding Assembly elections in J&K and perpetuating direct Central rule.
Addressing party workers at Raipur Satwari on Tuesday NDPI leader, Rajesh Gupta flayed the Union government for not honouring democratic rights of J&K people by keeping them unrepresented at every forum.
He demanded holding of early Assembly elections in J&K followed by restoration of Statehood and added that BJP cannot escape from elections forever.
Gupta said that NDPI shall continue to fight for constitutional guarantees, protection of land and jobs and will not compromise on the rights of people.
“After revocation of special status and Statehood of J&K on August 5, 2019, the Centre promised to hold Assembly elections in the newly-formed Union Territory after delimitation exercise to redraw 90 Assembly seats but the BJP doesn’t want elections here because its support base has shrunk,” the NDPI leader maintained.
Umesh Manhas, S. Kuljeet Singh, Tilakraj, Sandeep Anand, Rajiv Luthra and others were also present in the meeting.
