JAMMU, Oct 30: Nami Dogri Sanstha Jammu, in collaboration with Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, organised a “Sangeet Sandhya” in KL Sehgal Hall Jammu.
Padam Shree, Sahitya Academy awardee and former Director AIR, Jatinder Udhampuri presided over the event whereas Sahitya Academy Awardee Om Vidyarthi was chief guest on the occasion. Prithvi Sharma, renowned music composer of Jammu and Kashmir was guest of honour and Sahitya Academy Awardee and renowned Dogri and Hindi poet Nirmal Vinod was special guest of the function .
Dogra Harish Kaila and Yash Pal Yash composed the lyrics with heart touching compositions. Eminent singers of Duggar Prof Anupama Sharma, Prof Suraj Singh, Subhash Langeh, Neelam Langeh and Vishal Gupta performed in their melodious voices . The performing instrumentalists comprised Rakesh Anand on flute, Sunil Sharma on synth, Lucky Sahil on tabla, Vijay Anand on Dholak and Amit Anand on Octo’pad.
They added colours to the programne with their mesmerizing performance.
The lyricists were late Ved Pal Deep, Late Parduman Singh, Charan Singh, Dr VK Puri , Yash Pal Yash and Capt Lalit Sharma. Dr Shahniwaz, Cultural Officer JKAACL and Capt Lalit Sharma, Convener NDS, also shared the dais.
In his address, Jatinder Udhampuri said that artists like Mirabhai and Surdass have attained spiritual heights through music. He said Dogri Baakh is unique folk type of Duggar which is not found anywhere else and we need to preserve and propagated it.
Om Vidyarthi said that music has healing effect on all living beings, including humans, animals and plants. He observed the Duggar folk has flavor of the notes of local birds, mesmerizing sound of springs and rivulets, music of forest breeze, hissing sound of wild insects and creatures besides the sound of raining, which touch soul of everyone.
