NDS, HFAI organise multilingual ‘Kavi Goshti’

JAMMU, July 31: Nami Dogri Sanstha (NDS) in collaboration with Home for Aged and Infirms (HFAI) here today organised a multilingual poetic meet.
K.B Jandial, former Secretary to J&K Govt and Ex Member JKPSC was chief guest whereas P.L Gupta, former Inspector General of Police presided over the function.
Jatinder Kaur Sharma, renowned singer was special guest.
The participating poets covered various dimensions of Senior Citizens such as their experience, applied wisdom, duties of family and society towards them, their present status, their contributions, their strengths, their needs, aspirations, rights, privileges and expectations, their strengths and the support they deserve.
The poets who recited their poetry were Dr Sushil Bhola, Bishan Singh Dardi, Randhir Singh Raipuria, Kalpana Gupta Rattan, Dr. Chanchal Sharma, Yash Pal Yash, Sudarshan Kumari, Rakesh Sharma Tript, Ashok Kumar, Dr. S.K Jain, Suraj Singh, Balwinder Singh, Hina Mahajan, Madan Magotra, Sheikh Fiaz, Ashok Kumar Sharma Paras, Padam Singh Choudhary, Arun Sharma Banathia, Virinder Mishra, Sunaina Kaila Anand, Capt Lalit Sharma and Yash Pal Yash.
Capt Lalit Sharma in his opening remarks described senior citizens as a precious national asset who has the traditional responsibility to gracefully hand over the baton of our heritage and glory to the new generation and they have to receive it with pride.
I.D Soni said that our society should appreciate the potential of senior citizens.
K.B Jandial described Senior Citizens as social umbrella to save the youngsters from torrents and thunder storms of life with their experience and advice.
Dogra Harish Kaila, president NDS also spoke on the occasion.
Yash Pal Yash, general secretary NDS conducted proceedings.
About 60 elders attended the meeting apart from eminent persons like Prof. Anupama Sharma, renowned singer; B.S Jamwal, former Dy. Commissioner; Brig (Retd) Harcharan Singh; Mangal Singh Jamwal, former IB Officer, Shambu Ram Pyasa, ex-Bank Manager, O.P Sharma, renowned Journalist and many youth.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Arjun Dev Mohan, general secretary NDS Youth Wing.
