JAMMU, April 3: Nami Dogri Sanstha organized a special function to honour four outstanding Duggar personalities for their iconic contributions in different fields.
Dr Raj Kumar Sharma, a renowned physician and famous painter, was honoured for his outstanding social work and serving the people in distress and Chaitanya Chaudhary a noted businessman was honoured for his social work and contribution in employing more than 1000 persons in his business ventures.
Pooja Devi from remote area of Bani who broke all gender barriers and became first woman driver to drive passenger bus on Jammu-Kathua route and Shallu Gupta who despite losing her hands in a tragic mishap persuaded her studies in computer sciences and became a professor, were also honoured on the occasion.
Renowned Senior Advocate of J&K High Court P S Dutta presided over the function where as Mohinder Bhardwaj Senior Advocate and two times former president of Jammu Bar was the chief guest of the function. Surinder Kaur first woman designated as Senior Advocate was the guest of honour whereas Sunil Khajuria (Advocate of J&K High Court) and Pandit Suresh Poonchi (Mumbai based Jammuite and a renowned folk singer) were special guests.
Each personality was honoured with a memento and a ‘Saropa’ by P S Dutta and other guests.
Yash Pal Yash (general secretary of the Sanstha) conducted the programme, Sudershan Kumar (legal advisor NDS) and Advocate Dogra Harish Kaila (president NDS) were also present in the function.
Earlier, presenting welcome address, Capt Lalit Sharma (convener of NDS) said that NDS is elated to honour these exceptional personalities and hoped that the society, especially the youth, would get inspiration from them and achieve their respective missions and objects of their lives with zeal and enthusiasm.
Dr Chanchal Sharma, a well known Dogri writer, singer and radio announcer, read a detailed paper on women empowerment.
The function concluded with vote of thanks presented by Advocate Amit Gupta (vice president NDS).
