JAMMU, Dec 16: In a simple but impressive function, Nami Dogri Sanstha (NDS) remembered and paid homage to son of the soil, Ram Swaroop Gupta — a legal luminary who resonates as a symbol of unwavering justice and indomitable integrity.
The tributes were also paid to his sons late Jagmohan Gupta (former District and Session Judge) and late Prem Prakash Gupta (Executive Engineer). The function was presided over by UK Jalali (Senior Advocate and former Advocate General of J&K) whereas Kavinder Gupta (former deputy chief minister of J&K) was chief guest on the occasion.
Nidhi Dogra Sharma (patron of Dogra Samaj Trust, Mumbai) was special guest while Ajay Gupta (former Member, Electricity Commission) was guest of honour and former District and Session Judge Harbans Lal was special invitee.
Renu Mahajan (daughter of Ram Swaroop Gupta and former Secretary, J&K Legislative Assembly), Advocate Dogra Harish Kaila (president NDS) and Prof Anupama Sharma (patron NDS) also shared the dais. Yash Pal Yash (general secretary NDS) conducted the programme.
At the outset, Divya Gupta (granddaughter of late Ram Swaroop Gupta) read a detailed paper on life and works of his grandfather. She explained how he started his career as Pleader in 1937 and reached to the height of Registrar General of J&K High Court.
Capt Lalit Sharma (convener NDS and former APCCF) in his opening address said that they need to apprise their young generation about the outstanding contributions of late Ram Swaroop Gupta who is known for his landmark judgments, outstanding administrative acumen and commitment to the social welfare.
Kavinder Gupta said that they need to catalogue and compile life and works of the outstanding personalities of Duggar as icons for the new generation while U K Jalali shared his experiences based on his association with the legal luminary.
Dinesh Singh Chauhan, Harbans Lal, Nidhi Dogra Sharma, Ajay Singh (son-in-law of late Ram Saroop) and Renu Mahajan also spoke on the occasion.
The programme ended with vote of thanks by Advocate Arjun Dev Mohan.
