‘Political parties not as relevant as youth’

JAMMU, Sept 29: Governor Satya Pal Malik said today that youth of Kashmir are real stakeholders and if their issues, anger and requirements are listened and addressed, the future of Kashmir will be very bright. He declared that New Delhi and the State Government were always at the disposal of youth.
“Neither political parties nor other organizations are so relevant in Kashmir as youth. If we focus on the youth between the age group of 13-30, listen to their issues, anger and requirements and address them and make them believe that we are for them, the future of Kashmir will be very bright,’’ Malik said addressing felicitation ceremony of ‘Chinar Youth Festival-Hunar-e-Kashmir’ organized in the lawns of SKICC, Srinagar this evening.
Asserting that he didn’t take information given by the officers or security agencies as complete, the Governor said he wants that youth should give information as to what people or they themselves want. Click here to watch video
“This will help us in meeting requirement of the youth,’’ he said.
Malik declared that New Delhi and the State Government were at the disposal of youth.
“We are fully at the disposal of youth. We will do whatever is required or asked for by youth to fulfill your dreams,’’ he said and called upon the youth to give their suggestions to him by meeting him personal or on his phone and WhatsApp.
He said the doors of Raj Bhawan were always open for the people including youth.
Malik said while corruption was “deep-seated” in the state, there would be no compromise on it in his administration.
“Corruption is deep-seated in Kashmir. The amount of money Kashmir had, if that would have been properly utilised, then Kashmir would have become golden Kashmir. We have sent an officer to jail and, in the days to come, there will be no compromise with corruption. I have come (to J&K) with one suitcase and will return with that only,” Malik told reporters on the sidlines of the function.
Asked about the situation in south Kashmir, Malik said, “I tell you that the whole country is demonising Kashmiris. I will tackle south Kashmir also with a hand of friendship.”
“See Kashmir is very big, some small incidents happen, but some good things also take place, so we have to focus on positive things, these things will get addressed, don’t worry,” he said.
Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam, GOC 15 Corps Lt Gen A K Bhatt and Principal Secretary to Governor Umang Narula among many distinguished guests were present at the function.
TV personalities including actors Gurmeet Choudhary, Tina Dutta and Bollywood singer Javed Ali enthralled the audience with their performances on the occasion. The ceremony was anchored by famous TV actress Debina Bannerjee.
Felicitating the achievers of the various competitions like painting, singing, calligraphy, instrumental music, cultural performances, the Governor expressed his happiness to see immense talent in the youth of the State and observed that given appropriate platform and ample opportunities to the youth to express themselves, he is sure that they are second to none. He complimented the Army for organizing Hunar-e-Kashmir festival with the aim to promote peace and project creativity of the youth.
Malik noted that future of J&K is in hands of the youth who are exhibiting extra ordinary talent in arena of sports, studies, and extracurricular activities at national and international levels.
He observed that noticing the passion for sports among the youth here, the Government is making every effort to strengthen sports infrastructure and very soon the State will have international level stadiums of football and cricket. He observed that his administration is working on idea of having State’s own IPL team and IPL matches will be played here once new cricket stadiums are approved by the experts.
The Governor observed that his administration is actively engaged in meeting developmental aspirations of people. He urged people to bring into the Government authorities’ notice. any matter of public importance and his administration will ensure its speedy resolution.
Besides winners of various competitions organized in “Hunar-e-Kashmir” festival, Malik felicitated participants and medal winners of Asian Games 2018 from the State including Bronze medalist in Wushu Surya Bhanu Pratap, Coach Kuldeep Handoo, Ms. Bilquis Mir, Referee Water Sports, Danish Sharma, Kurash sports and Jabeena Akhtar, Wushu Player.
The Governor also gave prizes to winners of Mountain Cycle Expedition, and Jhelum Football Championship (Boys and Girls).
