“Neglected” 90 pc of Kashmiri people want peace: Sri Sri Ravi Shanker

JAMMU : Terming terrorists and separatists as cash-cows, spiritual leader, Sri Sri Ravi Shanker today said that 90 percent of the “neglected” people in Kashmir wanted peace.
“High percentage of people living in Kashmir want peace but they feel “neglected” and “ignored” as their voice is not heard outside and even not being highlighted by the media,” Sri Sri here told reporters at a press conference after the launch of South Asian Peace Forum Programme organised by the Art of Living foundation.
The Peace Guru said, “this forum will provide platform and space to the “ignored” section of people in the Kashmir Valley, which is around 90 percent and they want peace for an overall development, progress and prosperity of the region.”
He, however, said that some Imams (religious preachers) also met him and they also batted for peace but expressed resentment that nobody listened to them.
On a query that what is the ‘mantra’ to restore peace in Kashmir, Sri Sri said peace was the only way out, adding that “it is proven that conflict becomes cash-cow for some people and they do not give up.”
“Such elements earn in the name of struggle and freedom movements, but actually they also don’t know from whom and what ‘Azaadi’ (freedom) they want,” he asserted.
He said that people need to understand this, they need to come forward and realise the truth. “This Forum will help people to understand such things and make them understand the truth as our motive is restoration of peace,” said Sri Sri. He, however, said they were here to change the genes of those who created troubles. (agencies)
