Neglected Zanskar cries for infrastructure

Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘Zanskar awaits restoration of infrastructure damaged due to artificial lake 2 years back’ DE May 8.
It is very sad to learn that Zanaskar one of the beautiful spots in the world does not receive much attention from Central and State Governments. The people living here do not have basic amenities available to them.  The people are subjected to live a harsh life even after seven decades of independence of the country.
The healthcare facilities are not upto the mark as the health centres face shortage of staff and medicines. At times the people have to go other places like Kargil or Leh to seek treatment. But problems compound during winters when the whole place gets cut off from rest of the State.
Education is another sector which is at receiving end. The schools in the area do not have sufficient infrastructure to impart quality education to the students of the area. As a  result, they are not in a position to compete with the children of urban centres.
The people have been suffering terribly right now as the infrastructure- bridges, culverts and link roads that got damaged last year have not been constructed yet by the authorities.
Hope this region gets as much attention as do the other parts of the State.
Yours etc…
