JAMMU, Oct 18: Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, Satish Nehru today paid extensive visit to Jammu city and reviewed the activities of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and Jammu Development Authority (JDA).
He started the visit from Sidhra and covered most of the construction works being undertaken along the National Highway and culminated at Gandhi Nagar.
The Secretary especially reviewed constructions being undertaken at Narwal and instructed the Enforcement Wing of both the organizations to ensure that no violation of sanctioned building permission takes place.
The norms governing land use and set back are strictly asked to be comply with and in case of Non-observance, directions were issued on spot for initiating action under law including sealing of premises. During his visit to the Channi Himmat area, unauthorized construction of Restaurant was demolished and violators were warned not to extend any building part outside the shopping line.
The Secretary further visited Sewerage Treatment Plant being installed at Bhagwati Nagar.
General Manager, NBCC apprised that 98% of the work has been completed and the plant will be operational in a few months. On-going works at Maharaja Gulab Singh Road, adjoining to Exhibition Ground was also inspected and Secretary asked the NBCC for expediting the pace of work.
Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Kiran Wattal informed the Secretary about the recent steps taken to gear up the functioning of Corporation and assured that services being made available to the citizens will further be streamlined.
The officers accompanying Mr Nehru included VC, JDA, KL Khajuria, Joint Commissioner, JMC, Kapil Sharma, Superintendent Engineer and Executive Engineers and Chief Enforcement Officers of JMC and JDA.
