JAMMU, July 30: Secretary to Government, Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD) Satesh Nehru today reviewed the progress of projects taken-up under various Centrally Sponsored and State Sector Schemes and issued directions to all field Executive Agencies/ Officers to complete all the ongoing Works/ Projects expeditiously.
He also took a review of the sanitation scenario prevailing in various Municipal Councils/ Committees of Jammu division.
Mr Nehru stressed the need to improve the sanitation system of various Municipal Councils/ Committees and directed the Executive Officers concerned to personally monitor the working of Safai-karamcharies and ensure cleanliness to prevent health hazards.
Director Urban Local Bodies Jammu was asked to moot a proposal regarding the regularization of those Safai Karamcharies against the available vacancies who have completed seven years of uninterrupted services. Besides, complete particulars of all the safai karamcharies engaged till date be also furnished to the H&UDD.
Secretary H&UDD directed CEOs/EOs of the Municipal Committees/Councils to launch One Week Sanitation Drive in their respective towns beginning from 4th of August 2014. He also stressed the need of putting in place effective lighting system and shift to low energy consumption pattern and promote the use of LED lights in all the towns.
While taking a stock of developmental works being executed under UIDSSMT, Secretary H&UDD expressed serious concern over the delay in completion of various components of the projects and directed the field agencies to expedite the completion of works by addressing the bottlenecks if any.
While reviewing the Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme (IHSDP) Scheme of JNNURM, Secretary H&UDD took a serious note of slow progress of works in MCs Parole, Ramnagar, Basholi, Reasi, Thannamandi, Kalakote, Billawar and Arnia and directed the Executive Officers concerned to speed up the pace of developmental works of dwelling units, lanes and drains, community toilets and community centers and ensure its timely completion.
Among others K. L. Khajuria, Director Urban local Bodies, Jammu, Dr. R.S. Sharma Additional Secretary H&UDD, Vinod Behnal Deputy Director Administration, Rajeev Bhushan Deputy Director Planning, CEOS/Eos of MCs of the DULBJ and representatives of the Executive Agencies were present in the meeting.
