JAMMU, Feb 28: Miran Sahib police solved a murder case by arresting the nephew for killing his aunt.
As per police sources, on June 14, 2011 a lady namely Neelam Devi alias Leela Devi, wife of Ramesh Lal of village Langotian, Miran Sahib was admitted in SDH RS Pura in injured condition by her nephew namely Manga Ram alias Vicky, son of Baldev Raj, a resident of Village Makhyal Kanachak, who told the family members of the lady that she met with an accident.
The lady was later shifted to GMCH for advanced treatment, where she died on June 19, without giving any statement to the police.
As the injuries were suspicious, hence inquest proceeding was initiated vide DDR.No. 17 dated 19-6-2011 at Police Station Miran Sahib and the inquiry was set into motion.
During the course of investigation, it came to fore that lady’s nephew Manga Ram had shifted to some unknown place and is not in contact with any of his relatives, which raised doubts. It was also found that the deceased lady had illicit relations with Manga Ram.
The medical report of the lady revealed that she died due to serious injuries caused by assault not by accident.
Hence the inquest was closed and a case under FIR Number 36/16 under Section 302 RPC was registered and the accused Manga Ramn was arrested. During questioning, Manga Ram broke down and accepted to commit the crime.
According to the statement of the accused to police, he had developed illicit relation with his deceased aunt. In year 2011, he caught his aunt red-handed with some other person during the intervening night of June 13 and 14, but left the house and spent whole night in his vehicle (Winger) bearing registration number JKO2AH-8354, where he made a plan to kill his aunt.
To give the final shape to this murder plan, the accused went to deceased Leela’s home in the morning on June 14 and took her with him in his Tata Winger with the assurance that he will discuss the matter somewhere else and at a secluded place on Langotian-Khour Road, Miran Sahib. The accused started beating the deceased lady with fists, blows and hit her head with an iron rod number of times. He also hit her with the vehicle when the lady was unconscious and later took her to the hospital and told relatives that she got these injuries in an accident.
The murder case was worked out by SHO Police Station Miran Sahib SI Hilal Azhar under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Harjeet Singh, SP Headquarters RC Kotwal and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
