New Advocates administered oath

JAMMU, Apr 12: In a simple but impressive function, J&K State Judicial Academy held oath taking ceremony for distribution of Advocates License for new entrant to the legal profession.
The function was presided over by Justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir, Judge Incharge, State Judicial Academy. Before delivery of enrolment certificates (Advocates license) to the Advocates of Jammu province, they were administered oath by Abdul Wahid, Director J&K State Judicial Academy.
In his address, Justice Manoor Ahmed Mir enlightened the newly enrolled advocates on the professional ethics and conduct, court craft and art of advocacy, adding that lawyers, as guardians of the law, play a vital role in the preservation of society. The fulfilment of this role requires an understanding by lawyers of their relationship with and function in our legal system. A consequent obligation of lawyers is to maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct, he added.
In fulfilling professional responsibilities, a lawyer necessarily assumes various roles that require the performance of many difficult tasks. Not every situation which the lawyer may encounter can be foreseen, but fundamental ethical principles are always present for guidance. Within the framework of these principles, a lawyer must with courage and foresight be able and ready to shape the body of the law to the ever-changing relationships of society, he further said.
Justice Mir urged the lawyers to be the sincere to their clients and underlined the importance of advocating their clients cause in the court of law with a good grasp of the facts of the matter as handled by them, and a good understanding by the law as applicable thereto, or closely applicable thereto as the case may be, they must put forward their case before the judge in a systemic fashion and do so clearly and loudly enough for the judge before whom they are appearing.
Director, State Judicial Academy, Abdul Wahid thanked Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir for enlightening the newly enrolled Advocates on the professional ethics, conduct, truthfulness, honesty, updating the knowledge of laws and art of advocacy.
