“New Basic Child Health Project” launched for poor children

JAMMU, Sept 13 :  The  Jammu and Kashmir Women Society, (Branch AIWC) today started a “New Basic Child Health Project” for poor children in which 100 children of poor families will be provided free medical check-up and treatment for one year by the organisation.
The project was inaugurated by Chairperson, State Social Welfare Board, Khem Lata Wakhloo.
While addressing the gathering, Khem Lata Wakhloo stressed the need of organising such  more functions, so that health of poor children may get proper attention of the society and Government. She appreciated the role of Nirmal Padha, a social activist, who is heading a premier organisation working for the cause of women and children and asked the participants to extend support to such programmes and organisation for taking the schemes to the ground. She also assured a possible help to such organisations for the welfare of deprived and underprivileged children.
The national President, All India Women’s Conference, Bina Jain said that her organisation is committed to undertake such programmes all over the country but J&K has been treated as special case in this concern. She also appealed the people to get involved in such programmes to achieve the goal of good health for all.
Mrs. Nirmal Padha said, “it is shocking for all of us that despite living in 21st century, there are seize-able number of children who need special care for their health as they are suffering from many diseases caused due to poverty, mal-nutrition and absence of medical care”.
