SRINAGAR : A fresh batch of 6,368 pilgrims, including women and sadhus, today left Baltal and Nunwan Pahalagam base camp for holy Amarnath cave shrine, where about one lakh yatris had darshan of the self made Ice-Shivlingam till 1130 hrs this morning.
The yatra, which commenced on June 28, was going on smoothly from both shortest Baltal and traditional Pahalgam routes.
Official sources told that till last evening more than 98,000 yatris had darshan in the holy cave in south Kashmir Himalyas. However, this morning pilgrims, who had night halt at different places, reached the cave shrine to have darshan of the Shivlingam.
So far about one lakh pilgrims, mostly from Baltal, have darshan in the cave shrine, they said, adding that majority of them have since left for their homes while others have extnded their stay to visit tourist places in the valley.
A yatra official said 3,538 pilgrims, including 607 women and 12 sadhus left Baltal for the holy cave early this morning.
He said common yatri like to travel via Baltal while sadhus prefer to undertake the pilgrimage through traditional Pahalgam so that they could have bath in Sheshnag before darshan in the cave shrine.
Similarly, 2,375 yatris also left Nunwan Pahalgamb base camp for next halting station either at Chandanwari, the last motorable station or Pisso top or Zojibal. The yatris included 422 women and 50 sadhus, he added.
About 1000 to 1400 pilgrims are also going to Holy Cave in helicopters daily.
