Srinagar, Mar 6: A new attraction at Srinagar’s famous Dal lake is now drawing bird lovers and nature enthusiasts alike.
The Bird Forest Resort, founded by Kashmiri entrepreneur Mohammad Yasin, aims to provide a sanctuary for exotic birds that migrate to the lake during this time of year while inspiring locals to protect the environment.
Yasin’s love for birds was instilled in him by his mother at a young age. She would often feed the birds, sparking his interest and inspiring him to pursue his passion.
Now, he has created an environment where people can come and enjoy bird-watching while experiencing the diverse range of birds in the area. “My mother used to feed the birds when I was a child, and it sparked my love for them. Now, I have created an environment where people can come and enjoy bird-watching while experiencing the diverse range of birds in the area,” he said.
However, Yasin’s mission is not solely to create a bird-watching paradise. He also hopes to inspire residents living in and around the lake to become guardians of the water bodies, protecting them from further harm.
“We have been entrusted with the responsibility to care for and protect birds. By setting up the resort, I not only help to protect the environment but also attract more migratory birds, providing future generations with the opportunity to witness these beautiful creatures,” he said.
Yasin feeds the birds two to three times a day, treating them as guests and striving to provide for their needs. “It is our duty as responsible beings to prevent further harm to the environment,” he added.
The Bird Forest Resort provides an ideal opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse oneself in nature. Visitors are struck by the serene beauty of the wetland in front of the houseboat, where many birds flock every day.
“Bird-watching can serve as a refreshing escape for the mind and soul, providing people with positive and uplifting thoughts. By protecting and caring for the natural world around us, we can also find inner peace and joy,” he said.
For Yasin, the project is more than just a business venture; it is a way to carry on his mother’s legacy and her love for birds. “I hope to inspire others to do the same and become guardians of nature,” he said.
