New BJP chief

Gadkari could not maintain his tenacity and had to be dropped in a dramatic turn of events at BJP headquarters. Rajnath Singh, from whom he had taken over the chairmanship of BJP in 2009, returned to power, which he calls responsibility. The task ahead for the new BJP chief is not that easy as one may think. He has to fight at two fronts; one, and of much priority, is cementing unity among the BJP cadres which have shown signs of dissensions in the past. The second is to plan for winning parliamentary elections next year. A person of dynamic understanding, planning and party management is needed who can make impact on the masses of people. Rajnath Singh has the requisite credentials but he has very little time at his disposal. A forceful campaign for removing divisive tendencies and giving cohesion to the party from top to bottom is a task which cannot wait a single minute. We wish Rajnath Singh success in the great task of building new political mindset in the second largest mainstream party in the country. The country will closely watch how he begins to discharge his responsibilities.
