Srinagar, Nov 3: A new born baby today died at District Hospital Baramulla in north Kashmir, triggering protests.
Reports said a pregnant lady was referred to Baramulla Hospital from Public Health Centre (PHC) Sheeri in the district after she developed complications.
The relatives of the lady said that she was operated upon by a female doctor and she gave birth to a baby. “However the baby died instantly due to medical negligence,” they alleged. Relatives further alleged that the she was not referred on time from PHC Sheeri.
The death of the new born triggered protests by relatives of the lady. They were demanding action against the doctor and paramedical staff involved in the delivery surgery.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Baramulla Bashir Ahmad Chalko told Excelsior that there was no negligence on their part. “The baby didn’t die of medical negligence,” he said, adding that there were already complications.
