NEW DELHI, Apr 28: Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today announced that Delhi would host the 46th Annual meeting of the Board of Governors of Asian Development Bank in May next year.
India’s association with ADB dates back to 1966 and is founder member of this multilateral institution.
The annual meeting will provide a valuable opportunity for brainstorming and cross fertilisation of ideas amongst the intellectuals and policy makers from across Asia and the world, Mr Mukherjee said while speaking at a special function in which logo for the high profile event was released.
He said the theme for the event is ‘Development through Empowerment’ and it encompasses issues that are critical for sustaining high and inclusive growth in Asia.
Industry associations CII, ASSOCHAM and FICCI have been invited by the Government to partner in the organisation of the event which would see the participation of official delegation from 67 countries.
Speaking on the occasion, DG, CII Chandrajit Banerjee said industry body was privileged to be part of this very prestigious event and would extend all support to ensure that it was held on a scale commensurate with India’s stature in the world today. (UNI)
