Sir,
It’s gratifying that finally the democratic process has been restored in J&K and Omar Abdullah, the youngest Chief Minster has been sworn-in to steward the UT after its pre-poll alliance won a comfortable triumph / majority at the husting. The task for the CM is clearly cut out. It’s to concentrate on development of J&K besides addressing the pressing issues of the people. There are challenges galore but the second time CM has experience on his side that would help him navigate through the challenging administrative duties. It’s unfortunate that congress did not join the new Govt. despite contesting election in Pre-alliance with NC. The move has sent a wrong message of disunity among Alliance partners to the public. Restoration of Statehood to J&K is definitely one of the foremost and crucial issues that is to be addressed by the New Govt. but that might take time. The first primary task for the new Govt is to address the immediate administrative works// issues.
The Congress party would have strengthened the hands of Omar CM by joing the Govt. However, the positive vibes emanating from the PM and J&K Lt Governor who exhibited their good intentions to work closely with new Govt for J&K development while congratulating the CM Omar Abdullah on taking over the leadership of J&K are welcome. The challenging task for CM also is to take both the regions along, concentrate on development and augmentation of Infrastructure in J&K especially in Health care and Education sectors besides addressing people’s pressing concerns/ aspirations. It would be in the fitness of things if the union Govt. now fulfills its promise of restoring the statehood to J&K at the earliest for smooth functioning and overall development. People have given the mandate to NC- Congress Alliance by coming out and voting in large number, the big onus is now on the J&K Govt. to deliver on its promises and fulfill people’s aspirations. Hope, the new Govt. would also work to lay special impetus on power sector, as J&K is known for its worst power cuts and people in J&K certainly want respite from unendurable pangs of long power cuts. Best of Luck to CM for his challenging second term to take the J&Ks progress forward and bringing prosperity in the life of people though effective People welfare- oriented policies and programmes.
