JAMMU, Nov 16: Director School Education Gulzar Ahmed Qureshi has said that Education Department has introduced new mechanism of adoption of schools by the District Institutes of Educational Training (DIET) to help these achieve better results and meet the infrastructural requirements.
The DIETs will help the adopted schools to make learning more effective by providing teaching-learning aids, ensuring punctuality of the staff, availability of infrastructure and increase in the enrolment of students, he added.
This was stated by the Director at a meeting of Chief Education Officers and Zonal Educational Officers, here today.
Mr. Qureshi informed that under the new system the Principal Higher Secondary School will monitor the functioning of High Schools, Headmaster of High School that of Middle Schools and Primary School to improve quality of education and results during the coming 2012-13 exams.
For meeting the shortfall of teachers, he said that hundreds of ReTs have been engaged as per subjects in every district, particularly in far-off areas of the Jammu division so that the studies of the students do not hamper due to lack of staff. He said on the instructions of School Education Ministry, door to door campaign has been launched to identify those children who remain without education due to economic reasons.
Mr. Qureshi asked the teaching fraternity to impart quality education to the students so that they will become good citizen of the country.
He said the department has promoted 2784 teachers as masters and 207 Masters as Incharge Headmasters in order to fill the vacancies in fast track manner. He said DIETs have been activated and given additional responsibility for conducting middle standard exams, adding that supplementary exams have also been conducted first time in educational institutions.
