New Pediatric Hospital’s problems

Jammu and Kashmir has typical tough terrain, extreme hot and cold climate making life much more tougher than rest of India and the matter gets further complicated due to limited resources of health infra which is further worsen as almost nil presence of big private hospitals as such though the population has grown manifolds yet the Government health infra remained almost same for decades. But the things are fast changing now as Jammu and Kashmir
in last three years have seen unprecedented development on health front. Two Bones and Joint Hospitals, two State Cancer Institutes, two AIIMS and numerous
GMCs have either come up or are coming up, all for welfare of public, and recent addition being a 500 bed Children Hospital at Bemina in Kashmir. A well spacious with ultra modern equipment, this hospital has
everything the patients can dream of except the much required pharmacies. The only one right now operational is overcrowded and public has no other option
except to walk/travel to other far away chemist shops. The other drawback being the absence of overheadbridge for patients coming on the opposite side of hospital. Hospital infra has come up but the basic much needed facilities have been ignored and there seems to be no immediate respite from this man made problems. Situation for an emergency patient is worst and nobody wants to come up with solution at the earliest.
This is not an odd case of planning failure of Health and Medical Education Department, State Cancer Institute at Jammu has come up without sewage treatment plant and power backup room, Super Specialty
Hospital Jammu is without Emergency Wing, Children Hospital at SMGS hospital has no ward facility for mothers, some of them with caesarian operation lying
on corridor floors outside pediatrics emergency. One hopes all these sufferings of patients are being taken care by the concerned at the earliest instead of ostrich
like brusque approach.
