JAMMU, May 23: New perceptions leading to creation of novel imagery marked the works of latest batch of academically trained young artists, which were put on display at the Rinchen-b-Zangpo Art Gallery,
Zorawar Singh Auditorium, here today.
The four day exhibition constitutes the ‘display’ reflecting academic and professional standards achieved by the final year students after the studying for year Bachelor Courses in Visual Arts being imparted in Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Arts, JU.
The creative canvases on show by young painters from the department t of painting, reflect variety of their concerns such as for Ashish Raina; the memories and remembrances of his homeland Kashmir, Insha Manzoor, the divine rhythm in nature, Pushkin Kainth the subtle changes if colors in nature while for Renu Bala it is creative use of the visual narrative tradition of native Basohli school in her works.
The group of applied artists from the department of applied arts represented by Dechan Angmo, Pooja Sharma, Pradeep Singh Kushwaha and Surinder Kumar has put on show photographs, press advertisement and illustrative works bringing forth themes such as domestic violence, adulteration and Red Cross along with various issues of products and visual documentation.
Jigmat Palmo, from department of art history and aesthetics, has also contributed in form of the write up in the exhibition catalogue brought out on the occasion.
The exhibition which is open till May 26 was inaugurated by Prof Neelam Saraf, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu (JU) while Vijay Saraf, principal, IMFA, Prof D L Choudhary, IMFA faculty members and number of students were also present on the occasion.
