New twist in girl’s murder

SRINAGAR, Nov 4:  An under trail murder case in Kupwara court got a new twist when the postmortem report revealed that the death  of a woman was caused due to consumption of poison and not by hanging, as was presumed earlier.
Sources said, Ameera Bano had an affair with one Waqar Ahmad Khan R/o Shaat Lolab. Ameera on February 12 this year, went to the home of Waqar and on the next day parents of Waqar sent her back to her home.
On February 14, Ameera’s parents forced her to enter into the contract of marriage with their relative Nisar Ahmad Shah R/o Sivar, Milgund.
Waqar after knowing about the news about forced marriage of Ameera, filed a complaint in police station stating his wife – Ameera had been forced to enter into the contract against her will. Relatives of Ameera raised alarm and hue and cry when Waqar along with his relatives and police party, reached Siver Mirgund.
Sources said, after police left the spot a quarrel occurred between the two groups. Later, relatives of Ameera went to police station Lalpora and filed an FIR against Waqar and his relatives for murdering Ameera. “Police had filed FIR 7/12 under Section 302 RPC against Waqar and his relatives and arrested the accused persons immediately”, said sources.
Since last eight months Waqar and his some relatives are behind the bars and the case is under trial in the court.
The officer in charge in this case, DSP Sajad Khaliq Bhat said that the postmortem report has recently revealed that Ameera was not hanged but the cause of her death was poison.
“After going for more investigations under the directions of the court, relatives of Ameera confessed before the police that they had poisoned her before Waqar alongwith his relatives had appeared in their locality”, said Bhat. “They admitted that they availed the opportunity to implicate Waqar and his relatives in the murder of Ameera”, Bhat added.
