New water supply scheme for Arnia town coming up at Rs 3.99 cr: Sham

JAMMU, Jan 21: Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today informed the Assembly that DPR for a new water supply scheme has been formulated for Arnia town with an estimated cost of Rs 3.99 crore under LIC loan assistance to augment the water supply in the area, with a provision of one additional tube-well which is under technical scrutiny.
Besides, improvement and augmentation of water supply to Bishnah town is ongoing under LIC loan assistance with an estimated cost of Rs 4.94 crore, he said.
“An amount of Rs 89.60 lakh has been released against which an expenditure of Rs 86.16 lakh has been incurred upto December 2016. On completion of the scheme, the water supply status in Bishnah town will improve,” the Minister informed.
Replying to a question by Kamal Verma regarding the measures taken for augmentation of potable water supply in Arnia and Bishnah towns, the Minister said that presently potable water to Arnia Town is being supplied from three tube-wells, each having discharge of 5000 glns/hour.
