New WSS taken up to meet drinking water requirement in Samba villages

JAMMU, Apr 2:  Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma today informed the Legislative Assembly that the villages namely Deon, Daghar, Paddal, Fedyali, Thalade Karthen in Samba constituency are being provided drinking water from existing dug well at Sagoon and Surinsar lake on alternate days.
He said the water levels of the dug wells at Sagoon has reduced, the discharge is not sufficient to provide drinking water supply to these villages on daily basis as the village Sagoon is also being covered from the same dug well.
The Minister was replying to a Calling Attention Notice of Yashpaul Kundal in the House.
In order to provide drinking water supply to there villages on daily basis, a new WSS Deon has been taken up under NRDWP at an estimated cost of Rs 198 crore. An amount of Rs 13 lakh stands released against which Rs 11.27 lakh stands incurred upto 2/2013. The tender for new dug well at Sagoon and GSR at Bral stands floated.
The dug well /GSR is proposed to be completed during 2013-14 subject to the availability of funds, the Minister said.
