Newborn dies during referral, family protests

MENDHAR, Apr 15: The family members and relatives of a woman held protest against the Sub District Hospital administration at Mendhar over the death of a newborn baby this evening in district Poonch.
Sources said that a pregnant woman delivered baby at around 4 pm at SDH Mendhar. On seeing serious condition of the new born, they were referred to the Govt Medical College Rajouri, where the newborn died on the way.
Ghulam Mustafa, the father of the newborn, alleged that baby died due to lack of oxygen in the ambulance.  He alleged that hospital administration was responsible for this.
Block Medical Officer Mendhar, Dr Parvez Ahmed Khan when contacted  said that this case came to his notice. A newborn baby was low birth weight who was referred to Medical College Rajouri but he died on the way. “I have assured the family that action will be taken against whoever is found guilty after investigating the matter,” BMO said.
