JAMMU, Apr 18: A newly born female baby was found dead near Indira Chowk, falling under the jurisdiction of Bus-Stand police station.
As per police sources, a dog carried a newly born female baby in its mouth from Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital premises.
The police cops witnessed the dog with a baby at Indira Chowk and rescued the baby.
Police contacted the hospital administration in this regard but failed to find clue about the parents of the baby.
The dog might have brought the dead baby from an isolated place in the hospital as sometimes the dead or unborn babies are not disposed properly by the family members.
The body has been shifted to mortuary of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for postmortem, which will be conducted tomorrow.
After postmortem, the facts will be clear that the baby was born before the scheduled time of her birth or there was some foul play.
However, a case under relevant Sections has been registered in this regard at Bus-Stand police station and investigation started.
