JAMMU, Sept 29: A newly born baby was killed, while seven others got injured, when the Tata Nano car they were traveling in rolled down into a deep gorge near Samroli in district Udhampur on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK02AR-1584 was on its way to Jammu from Doda, when the driver lost control over the steering, resulting the vehicle plunged into gorge near Samroli in district Udhampur and causing grievous injuries to the occupants.
On getting information, police and locals rushed the spot and started rescue operation. All the injured persons were rushed to District Hospital (DH) Udhampur, where doctors declared one and half month old baby as brought dead.
Later, three of the injured persons were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for specialized treatment.
The injured have been identified as Suresh Sharma, son of Shadi Lal Sharma, Neena Sharma, wife of Suresh Sharma, Satyam Sharma, son of Suresh Sharma, Ved Raj, son of Kanti Lal, Ansh Sharma, son of Suresh Sharma, Manisha Devi, wife of Ved Raj and Hari Om, son of Ved Raj, all residents of district Doda.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Chenani Police Station and investigation started.
