JAMMU, May 3: Expressing concern over the plight of displaced Pandits leading an exiled life for last 25 years outside Kashmir valley, the newly floated Displaced Kashmiris Democratic Party today said that it will strive hard for carving out a single township in Valley for their rehabilitation.
“Settlement of the KPs by carving out a single township in Kashmir valley is the only solution for permanent rehabilitation of displaced Pandits in Valley’’, president of the party Satish Pajnoo, its vice president Pushkar Nath Pandita and general secretary T K Dhar told reporters here, today.
They said KPs-the aborigines of Kashmir can’t abdicate their cardinal rights and responsibilities towards their land of ancestors. Though the community is in exile for last 25 years now, neither any political party nor any social organization took concrete step in this direction, they added.
They said the main objective of the organization is to work earnestly for reclaiming of roots and rehabilitation of migrants in the Valley with honour and dignity as per their wishes and aspirations and carving out of a single township within Valley is the only way out to it.
Pajnoo said the organisation will work for the welfare of the community and it will soon create a grievances cell for looking after the problems of the displaced people.
The other objectives of the organisation as per Pajnoo included pursuing the Legislators and MPs for providing a share from their CDF for the development of migrant colonies in Jammu as well as Kashmir, seek allotment of funds for the treatment of community members suffering from dreaded diseases, work for implementation of PM’s package in letter and spirit, eradication of mal practices and corruption in Relief Organization,  grant of  stipend to unemployed migrant youth and seek benefits for the displaced youth under self employment schemes.
Pajnoo said the organization was pained over the attitude of Government for making the voting process for migrants totally cumbersome which tantamount to denial of right to franchise.
He said the party will also work hard for unity among the various organizations of the community to launch a decisive battle for common cause of the community.
