UDHAMPUR, July 19: Following death of a newly married woman under mysterious circumstances at the house of her in-laws, family members from parental side of the deceased protested alleging that it was a murder.
According to the police, 19-year old Rita Devi, wife of Amit Kumar, resident of Lanci Krimchi Mansar, Udhampur was brought by her husband and other family members to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors declared her as brought dead.
Getting information about death of the woman, family members from parental side of the deceased and their villagers reached at the DH Udhampur and protested alleging that Rita Devi could have been murdered by her in-laws. They claimed that the deceased was being harassed and tortured by her husband.
In view of the controversy and allegation, a board of doctors was constituted by the hospital Superintendent for postmortem of the deceased. After the postmortem, the dead body was handed over the parents of the deceased while Police registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC for further investigation.
