UDHAMPUR, Aug 3: A newly married woman was found hanging from ceiling fan hook at the house of her in-laws in village Manmela Jib, Udhampur, following which family members from parental side of the deceased held a strong protest alleging it a murder.
According to the police report, Neelam Devi (28), wife of Sourab Kumar Verma, resident of Manmela Jib, Udhampur, was found hanging from a ceiling fan hook at the house of her in-laws under mysterious circumstances.
Family member saw her hanging and immediately called the Rehambal Police, which rushed to the spot and took the dead body to District Hospital in Udhampur for the postmortem.
On being informed about the death, family members from parental side of the deceased also reached District Hospital Udhampur and held a strong protest alleging that their daughter was murdered by her in-laws.
They claimed that the deceased, who was married only six month ago, was being tortured by her in-laws and action must be taken against them.
Later, the body was handed over to the family members for last rites while a case has been registered in this connection at the Rehambal Police Station for further investigation.
