JAMMU, Dec 17: NEXAS (Sainik School Nagrota Ex-Students’ Association) today organized a candle light solidarity march in honour of martyrs.
Hundreds of Alumni of Sainik School Nagrota and their families were joined by students, NGOs, Ex-Servicemen and citizens from all walks of life in the solidarity march that was organized to sensitize the society towards the supreme sacrifices made by young officers and men of the armed forces for the dignity, sovereignty and integrity of the Country.
The march was started with silence from Press Club, Jammu to Balidaan Stambh, emanating the message that the supreme sacrifices of our martyrs should be held in highest reverence and the families of the martyrs should be given utmost respect and honour.
The candle march was aimed more pertinently at expressing solidarity with the family of Major Arvind Bazala, a fellow NEXAN, who lost his life in a chopper crash in Sukna, West Bengal on November 30 this year. He achieved martyrdom along with two other officers while coming from a routine sortie. The crash allegedly took place due to technical failure of the ‘Cheetah’ helicopter.
“Our objective is to sensitize the citizens in general towards the sacrifices of soldiers of the armed forces. We also want to sensitize the State Government to consider befitting compensation to the families of these brave hearts at par with other states”, said Randhir Singh Bloeria, Chairman of NEXAS. Expressing deep anguish over the martyrdom of young Major Bazala, he regretted that the precious life of a valiant and promising officer was lost to a faulty machine.
The march culminated at Balidaan Stambh, where homage was paid to the martyrs of Nagrota militant attack, along with Major Bazala and his two fellow officers. The family members of Major Bazala were also honoured by NEXAS.
