NGEU launches cleanliness drive, continues chain hunger strike

JAMMU, June 15: Keeping in view the unhygienic and insanitary conditions in the Jammu University, the protesting Non-Gazetted Employees Union (NGEU) today launched cleanliness drive on the campus.
The members of the union cleaned the New and Old Administrative Block and Controller Office.
A meeting of the NGEU was held under the chairmanship of its president Krishan Chand, during which the cleanliness drive decision was taken.
While speaking, Krishan Chand said that the cleanliness drive has been launched till June 21, the last date of the ultimatum served to the Jammu University authorities to concede their demands.
Vijay Kumar, general secretary said that cleanliness drive and the chain hunger strike will be carried out simultaneously.
On the fifth day of the chain hunger strike, Deep Kumar, Mulkh Raj, Tarsem Chand, Girdhari Lal and Bodh Raj sat on hunger strike.
Meanwhile, Janata Dal (Secular) held a meeting under the chairmanship of its working president Kulbir Singh and extended support to the ongoing strike of the NGEU.
