JAMMU, July 20: All J&K Non-Gazetted Forest Officers Association today held protest demonstration at all the Forest Divisions and condemned the firing by unknown gunmen on a team of Forest employees of Pir Panjal Forest Division wherein one front line staffer namely Imran Yousaf Wani martyred and another employee namely- Jahangir Ahmed Chechi was seriously injured.

The Association members also held condolence meetings before protest and demanded immediate arrest of the those involved in attack. They added that the employees had laid Naka to apprehend the timber smugglers near Bangender bridge of Sonabanjar forest area during night hours and in the meantime unknown gunmen opened fire on-duty forest employees.
Forest employees assembled at Forest Complex Dogra Hall Jammu to pay homage to the Forest Martyr Imran Wani wherein BM Sharma Chief Conservator of Forest, Jammu, K. Ramesh Kumar Chief Conservator of Forest, B. Mohan Dass Conservator of Forest, East Circle, Anup Kumar Soni, DFO Jammu, Alok Mauraya DFO Social Forestry Division and others also joined.
Later, the Forest employees under the banner of All J&K non-Gazetted Forest Employees Association held protest against the incident. They condemned the attack. They also criticized Govt order wherein employees genuine demands like grant of risk allowance, 2 ½ days extra salary, removal of pay anomalies, regularization of DRWs and reorganization of Forest Department etc have been rejected.
While speaking on the occasion the Rajinder Singh Parihar, president J&K UT, Gurcharan Singh Provincial president Jammu, Amardeep Singh chief advisor, Kushal Singh, joint secretary J&K UT, Aftab Ahmed spokesman, Raj Kumar Parihar, vice president Jammu, Surinder Singh Chib, Harveer Singh, Hamid Kohli and other executive members said that Forest front line staff is performing duty round the clock, in all weather conditions, but their genuine demands have not been considered and the employees have decided to adopt the path of agitation. The employees sought LG’s intervene into the matter.
