JAMMU, Oct 1: NGK Spark Plugs India Pvt. Ltd. organised a preview of their CSR Film. The theme of the film is “Clean India, Green India & Tech India”.
On this occasion the Managing Director of the company, Keisuke Makino, Hirofumi Masuda Head Sales & Marketing and Sudipto Sanyal, vice president Sales and Marketing were present.
Hirofumi Masuda and Sudipto Sanyal said that NGK Spark Plug Co. Ltd. was established in 1936 as Japan’s first spark plug manufacturer in Nagoya city in Japan. NGK spark plugs are rated as one of the top-quality spark plugs in the world. “Our leading products have made significant contributions to the progress of the automobile industry all over the world’’. NGK spark plugs are being supplied to all major automobile manufacturers world-wide as original equipments. Currently, NGK has presence in USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, Indonesia, Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, China, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, South Africa, UAE, Italy, France, United Kingdom, France, Germany & Russia, they added.
India is the third largest automotive market in Asia after China and Japan. Growing overall automobile production and sales coupled with increasing preference for dual-fuel option passenger car and various ongoing and upcoming technological advancements are expected to boost the sales automotive spark plugs in India over the coming years.
NGK India was incorporated in 2006 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of NGK Spark Plugs, Japan, to leverage the rising demand for high-quality spark plugs in the domestic market. It launched its spark plugs in 2-wheeler segment in the year 2007 and in 4W segment in the year 2008.NGK India started a unique program in 2013 to empower and train local level mechanics called “Ustaad Mechanic Club”. “We selected key mechanics from various markets and conducted a Two Days Technical Workshop program for them at our Technical Centre at Bawal, Haryana. NGK India has already trained nearly 500 plus mechanics in this program and we aim to train another 2000 mechanics in next three years’’, they added.
They said NGK India is supplying spark plugs to leading OEMs, including Maruti Suzuki, Honda Cars, Ford India, Fiat India, Toyota Kirloskar Motors, Volkswagen, Mahindra and Mahindra, Renault-Nissan, Honda Two-Wheelers India, Hero MotoCorp, India Yamaha and TVS. The product portfolio caters to two-wheeler, three-wheeler, passenger car segment, general purpose engines and marine applications. “Our goal is to “do the double” meaning double the current sales by 2020’’. An aggressive target of capturing market share of 45% (from existing 22%) has been set and we are working towards increasing our distribution reach and market presence in newer markets, they added.
