NGO distributes warm clothes to needy people

JAMMU, Dec 21: Volunteers of People’s Hut Foundation—an NGO yesterday distributed warm clothes to the underprivileged people residing in slum areas here.
In a handout Dr. Rohit Koul, Director and CEO of the NGO said 1500 clothes including sweaters, jackets, trousers and blankets were collected by a team of the NGO from different areas of district Jammu and today these clothes were distributed to the needy people.
“We are also focusing on providing uniforms and sweaters to Government school students and we also aim to reach to all the orphanages of J&K and people living in slum areas,” said Vikas Pandita, Director and COO of the NGO.
He said the NGO accepts donations of clothes, gloves, jackets, blankets and anything else that can help keep the homeless people warm.
Pandita urged upon the people of J&K to come forward to help the poor in increasing winter chill.
Dr. Rohit Koul further added that there are thousands of people also who are homeless and these mostly include labourers in the city and there is an immediate need for proper facilities like quilts, drinking water, fire-woods, toilets etc for them.
“Police patrol at night should also be increased to check these people,” he maintained.
Vikas Koul, Advisor of the NGO, Sumit Khar and Ashish Sharma, team members of the NGO were also present on this occasion.
