NGO starts six chabeels

JAMMU, Apr 19: In view of steep rise in day temperature of Jammu , “Care Nature and Environment”, an NGO has started six chabeels across Jammu city at the most deserving public gathering sites like Bikram Chowk, Jammu University, Kacchi Chawni, Amphalla and Maheshpura Chowk.
The chabeels were inaugurated by Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Kapil Sharma, who appreciated the effort of the NGO.
Through these chabeels, the NGO will be offering fresh drinking water to the thirsty people who have no place and provision to quench their thirst during hot sunny days. These chabeels will offer water to the public for six months i.e. from April to September.
The general secretary of the NGO, Ruchi Chouhan Khan briefed the media that the volunteers of NGO have been deputed to offer the drinking water to the public. She said that this is the traditional and ethnic culture of our civilization to offer drinking water in traditional manner i.e. water stored in earthen pots.
The NGO will be supported by Municipal Corporation, Jammu for water supply and other required services.
Municipality will fill the earthen pots twice or thrice the day as per the requirement and if the demand increases, the timings and sites will also be increased, Khan said. She requested the localities to co-operate and extend support to the NGO in its noble cause.
Priya Sethi, president, BJP Mahila Morcha, Sucheta Gupta, president, NGO, Shamasul Nissa, secretary, NGO and Vijay Kumar, youth leader PDP, were also present.
