JAMMU, Oct 29: Sainik Welfare Department here has started an initiative to approach citizens to adopt families of martyred soldiers who sacrificed their life for the nation.
A handout stated that many NGOs have come forward to adopt these families and 41 Veer Naris were adopted in the year 2018-19 by Rotary Club Elite and Inner Wheel Club through constant efforts of President of the Club, Paramjit Kaur.
School Management Committee of Sant Bal Yogeshwar’s Bhartiya Vidhya Mandir of Dadwara, Billawar also expressed desire to give their support for the noble cause and eight Veer Naris of Billawar were adopted by the School Management in a function wherein Mamta Singh, State Coordinator of Women Coordination Committee (RSS) graced the occasion.
Director Sainik Welfare Department, Brig Harcharan Singh explained the concept of adoption of Veer Naris and said that through this adoption, the society can express their gratitude to the soldiers.
“There is requirement to guide the children of Veer Naris on various options of career and studies and also to provide morale support to the family,” he said
Speaking on the occasion Mamta Singh said that all citizens should visit Shaheed Parivars of their areas to raise their morale and to express gratitude of nation to such families.
Director Sainik Welfare Department introduced the families of battle casualties to the audience where a gift of gratitude was presented to each family on behalf of Red Cross Society Jammu.
Dr Indu Bhushan and Dr Bharat Bhushan coordinated the event. ZSWO Kathua Capt (IN) Vinod Khajuria made arrangements for the transportation of Veer Naris and coordinated the programme.
