NH blocked after landslides, restored

RAMBAN, Apr 10: The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was blocked after landslides near Banihal in district Ramban this morning.

Official sources said that suddenly boulders from a hillock at Chambalbas near Ramperi in Banihal sector, fell down on the National Highway, causing blockade at around 9.30 am on Monday. With this movement of traffic on both sides of the highway was suspended.
The National Highway authorities engaged men and machinery for road clearance and the highway was restored at around 1.30 pm. The traffic movement remained disrupted for about four hours. Massive traffic jam took place during afternoon and it took several hours to make the traffic movement streamline for the authorities.
