RAMBAN, July 9: The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was blocked this evening after boulders from one end of an under construction tunnel at Magarkote fell down on the highway, leading to its closure.
Official sources said that the weather was dry but suddenly boulders from one end of the under construction tunnel between Magarkote and Panthyal, fell down on the highway at around 8 pm today. No mishap was reported as there was no movement of vehicles at the site. With this, the movement of vehicles on this busy highway was stalled.
An official spokesman said that two machines have been pressed into service and the highway will be restored around 10.30 pm. The movement of vehicles from Banihal side will be allowed thereafter, the spokesman added.
