KATHUA, Nov 19: The irate residents of Chadwal blocked Jammu-Pathankote National Highway for half an hour this evening in protest against the thrashing of a motorcyclist by Chadwal Police.
According to reports the Chadwal Police asked a motorcyclist identified as Mr Sethi to stop and when he applied the brake to his two wheeler it stopped over 10 metres ahead of the cops.
This enraged the cops on duty and they thrashed the motorcyclist. The people of Chadwal while taking the strong exception of police action staged a protest and blocked the National Highway for half an hour resulting into a long jam on highway.
The situation was defused only after the intervention of senior police officers from Kathua who rushed the spot and pacified the agitating people. They assured them that they will identify the erring cops and recommend action under law against them.
